Club History

Founded in 2002 by Achal Yadav and Amit Bhagat, UBS Cricket Club is committed to fostering, improving and promoting the game of cricket in and around Fairfield County, CT, USA.

The club was initially started for players in and around Fairfield County in Connecticut, USA. Many of the current players were also occasionally playing for Norwalk Cricket Club in the SCTCA.

The growing interest among our members to play serious, competitive cricket prompted our move to the SCTCA. Players were inducted from the University of Bridgeport, UBS Warburg, and other universities & corporate entities around Fairfield County. A special word of appreciation goes to our mentors Tony and Keith of Norwalk cricket club.

The 2005 season was a great learning opportunity for the club members, with UBS CC performing admirably. The move to the SCTCA was justified in the 2006 season with UBS fielding a strong team in the 40/40 and Twenty20 editions. The hard work of the UBS Cricket Family was awarded when the club performed spectacularly to reach the semifinals of the Twenty20 Cup, but lost to United CC from Waterbury. However, the season wasn't over for the club with the team battling its way to a place in the 40/40 league finals. Although we lost to eventual champions, New Milford CC , UBS CC wowed many with their performance throughout the season.

2007 was another successful year for UBS CC with the addition of many new players. The club missed out on any championship games, which makes the 2008 season an eagerly anticapted one.

In 2008, UBS saw the addition of the UBS Warriors into the UBS Cricket Family. With more than 20 new playing members, it became necessary to form an additional team under Nikhil Mahajan's captaincy. A special thanks goes to our President, Amit Bhagat, for expanding the footprint of UBS CC and cricket in Fairfield county and beyond.

Manager's Column

Welcome to the UBS Cricket Family and our online home.

We welcome anybody who is interested in cricket. There's a place for you in our club to play with us or just swing by to enjoy an ongoing game. What makes us different from most other clubs is that we treat everybody with utmost respect & dignity, which enhances your level of comfort, allowing you to express yourself in a very friendly environment.
Managing UBS Cricket Club is a tough task but it is also a lot of fun. Our team emerged as runners up to New Milford CC in the 2006 season and continued to perform well to reach the semis in 2007. But more than the success, it is the joy we all share in being a part of the UBS Cricket Family. Our strength is in our camaraderie and our willingness to help each other. As members we must keep the UBS Cricket Family intact & nurture it through our continued efforts.
Every member of the club deserves a special mention for their commitment and dedication, especially members who travel great distances to participate in the matches. This is truly an expression of our team spirit and I am especially proud of this fact.

In the coming years, UBS Cricket Club, with the help of our members and community, looks forward to promote the wonderful sport of Cricket in the region.
Finally, I wish good luck to all our members and the SCTCA family at large in the upcoming season.
